NYC New York Color

I received a full size sample of New York Color Liquid Lip Shine to try out in my Voxbox from, which is a great program that offers some amazing products to review. I received the perfect color for me which is a nude color like I usually wear. I love it! This is one of the first lip shine products I have tried that wasn't all sticky and gooey on my lips.  I have used it alone and also on top of my favorite lip color and it stays shiny for a long time. It contains vitamin E which is very moisturizing and it is a great value selling for around $2.49. Liquid Lip Shine comes in 10 shades from neutral nude, to berries and fuchsias. New York Color has a great line of products available which you can view on their website at NYC New York Color.

A godly life brings huge profits to people who are content with what they have. We didn't bring anything into the world, and we can't take anything out of it. As long as we have food and clothes, we should be satisfied. But people who want to get rich keep falling into temptation. They are trapped by many stupid and harmful desires which drown them in destruction and ruin. Certainly, the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people who have set their hearts on getting rich have wandered away from the Christian faith and have caused themselves a lot of grief. 1 Timothy 6:6-10 God's Word Translation

The world stresses the importance of material possessions; God does not. The world offers the promise of happiness through wealth and public acclaim; God offers the promise of peace through His Son.

As I watch the news and see the greed that was shown this past weekend at the busiest shopping time of the year I can only shake my head at it all. A man punched a woman in the face, a woman maced a bunch of people, and much more.  Where is the love of Christ in all that, how can people forget what is important about Christmas? It truly breaks my heart.

I have yet to start my Christmas shopping for my daughters and see no time in the near future that I will be able to afford to but, I know that gifts are not the most important part of Christmas, Christ is first and then being with family is second. I wish more people understood this. I am proud to say that even though my daughters may long for material things for Christmas they know its ok if they don't get them, they know they have God in their hearts and helping others is more important to them.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope you all have an amazing Thanksgiving full of great food and family time. We aren't doing much, just a small dinner at home, our family lives in Michigan which is quite a ways from us but we get to go home and spend Christmas with them and for that I am thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving and  hope you are all enjoying time with your families, don't forget to thank God for all that we have.

Be Thankful Always, No Matter What

Yesterday was the anniversary of my mother's (Linda Jo Scott) death and it is just a really hard time for me and my family right now. I have really been very negative and thinking things like "what do I have to be thankful for".  I don't want to think like that it just happens.   Well today I went to my Sunday School class at Church and the topic was "Being Thankful", I really listened and took it to heart, no matter what we always have God to be thankful for.

Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.   1 Thessalonians 5:18
This really made me get to thinking, how many people in this world don't have the things we have and take for granted? Some don't have running water, food to eat, a place to lay their head at night, and much more. It really made me tell myself "Stop feeling sorry for yourself and be glad for the love of a forgiving God and all the things you have". At the end of the day I really feel so much better about everything, I will always miss my mom and the hurt will not go away but, I can get past it and be strong in the faith I have.
RIP Linda Jo Scott 11-19-2010

A Mother's Love

Now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13

Few things in life are as precious or as enduring as a mother's love. Our mothers give us life, and they  care for us. They nurture us when we are sick and encourage us when we're brokenhearted. Indeed, a mother's love is both powerful and priceless.
The words of 1st Corinthians 13 remind us that faith is important; so, too, is hope. But love is more important still. Christ showed His love for us on the cross, and , as Christians, we are called upon to return Christ's love by sharing it. Sometimes love is easy (puppies and sleeping children come to mind), and sometimes love is hard (fallible human beings come to mind). But God's Word is clear: We are to love our families and our neighbors without reservation or condition.
As a caring mother, you are not only shaping the lives of your loved ones; you are also, in a very real sense, reshaping eternity. It's a big job, a job so big, in fact, that God saw fit to entrust it to some of the most important people in His kingdom: loving moms like you.
~Taken from The Mother's Almanac by Criswell Freeman

There is no more influential or powerful role on earth than a mother's. ~ Charles Swindoll

Above all, keep your love for one another at full strength, since love covers a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:8

The things we learn from our mothers are forever in our hearts, my mother passed away a year ago this month but I will always remember all the important life lessons she taught me and I can rejoice knowing she is in Heaven with all the other angels.

Friday At Last

So glad it is Friday, this has been a long, trying, week.  I need to ask for prayers for a family friend (Lisa Williams) they found a lump on her breast and she is waiting for results of the biopsy.  Please just keep her and her family in her prayers as you go about your weekend.

Yummy! Torani Flavored Syrups!

Today I received my Torani Flavored Syrups program kit from This was a great package, I was so excited when I opened it and saw all that was inside. The kit included two 750ml bottles of Torani a recipe booklet, a special offer code to receive a discount on, and 5 FREE coupons for more full size bottles.

The flavors I received were Pumpkin Pie and Sugar Free Vanilla, I was excited about the Pumpkin Pie but not so much about the SF Vanilla but as you will see here I have changed my mind about that.

Here is the my review, I hope you enjoy!

So this morning I was sitting on the couch reading e-mail and checking out Facebook when someone knocked, I went to the door and it was Fed-Ex with a package, I already knew what it was because I was expecting it so I opened it immediately and since I just brewed my morning coffee I made a cup and put in about an ounce of the Pumpkin Pie flavoring and curled back up on the couch to relax.  I took my first drink and was immediately taken away to memories of all the wonderful Thanksgivings we had in our house when I was younger, it made me think of everything warm and cozy. It was everything you would expect and more. The only thing I would recommend to make the experience better is to have whipped topping on hand when you make it.
Then this evening after church I came home and my husband had made a pot of coffee so I decided to give the SF Vanilla a try even though I really doubted I would like it.  Just for a little background I always use vanilla flavored creamer in my coffee. Anyway I put in about the same amount of the Vanilla as I did the Pumpkin Pie and with this one I put just a tiny bit of regular milk in.  Still skeptical I tried a drink and was very pleasantly surprised that I actually liked it, I liked it and its sugar free! That really blew me away because I don't normally like anything sugar free.  It was very good, not too sweet but just right.  I picture curling up on a cold winter evening with some sugar free vanilla flavored hot chocolate in my near future.  Overall rating, definitely a ten, I can't wait to use my coupons to try the other great flavors Torani offers.

Trust God's Timing

Trusting in Gods timing can be very difficult and stressful sometimes but I have learned it is worth the wait.
If you're in a hurry for good things to happen to you and your family, you're not the only mom on the block who feels that way. But sometimes, you'll simply have to be patient.
God has created a world that unfolds according to His own timetable, not ours...thank goodness! We mortals might make a terrible mess of things, God does not.
Of course, God's plans do not always unfold according to our own wishes, or at the time of our own choosing. Nonetheless, we should trust the benevolent, all-knowing Father as we wait patiently for Him to reveal Himself. Until God's plans are made clear to us, we must walk in faith and never lose hope, knowing that His plans are always best. ALWAYS.
Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act."
~ Psalm 37:7 ~

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
Psalm 27:14

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
James 1:4

I hope you all have a wonderful and safe weekend.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Myth

Finding a lump in your breast means you have breast cancer.

The Truth

If you discover a persistent lump in your breast or any changes in breast tissue, it is very important that you see a physician immediately. However, 8 out of 10 breast lumps are benign, or not cancerous. Sometimes women stay away from medical care because they fear what they might find. Take charge of your health by performing routine breast self-exams, establishing ongoing communication with your doctor, and scheduling regular mammograms

The Myth

Men do not get breast cancer.

The Truth

Quite the contrary. Each year it is estimated that approximately 1,700 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and 450 will die. While this percentage is still small, men should also give themselves regular breast self-exams and note any changes to their physicians.

The Myth

A mammogram can cause breast cancer to spread.

The Truth

A mammogram, or X-ray of the breast, is one of the best tools available for the early detection of breast cancer. It CANNOT cause cancer to spread, nor can the pressure put on the breast from the mammogram. Do not let tales of other people's experiences keep you from having a mammogram. Base your decision on your physician's recommendation and be sure to discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor.

The Myth

Having a family history of breast cancer means you will get it.

The Truth

While women who have a family history of breast cancer are in a higher risk group, most women who have breast cancer have no family history. If you have a mother, daughter, sister, or grandmother who had breast cancer, you should have a mammogram five years before the age of their diagnosis, or starting at age 35.

The Myth

Breast cancer is contagious.

The Truth

You cannot catch breast cancer or transfer it to someone else's body. Breast cancer is the result of uncontrolled cell growth in your own body. However, you can protect yourself by being aware of the risk factors and following an early detection plan.

The Myth

Knowing you have changes in the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene can help you prevent breast cancer.

The Truth

While alterations in these genes in men and women can predispose an individual to an increased risk of breast cancer, only 5% to 10% of patients actually have this mutation. This is not an absolute correlation. Like your age or having a family history of breast cancer, it's a factor you just can't control. But you can let your physician know, perform regular breast self-exams, and focus on the fact your chances of not having this disease are greater than 90%.

The Myth

Antiperspirants and deodorants cause breast cancer.

The Truth

Researchers at the National Cancer Institute (NCI) are not aware of any conclusive evidence linking the use of underarm antiperspirants or deodorants and the subsequent development of breast cancer.

Just a little bit about myself, I am 38 years old, happily married for 14 years, have two beautiful daughters, ages 15 and 12.  We are just your average family trying to make it in this crazy world.

Always Put God First

In everything you do, put God first, and he will direct you and crown your efforts with success.
Proverbs 3:6

Beauty queens wear crowns, star athletes receive trophies, and successful business people accumulate wealth. Whether or not you are successful in the world's view, God has a crown for you. If you put God first in all you do and are directed by him, your efforts to serve him will be crowned with success.

As We Pray

Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.
Luke 6:12

Find a nice, quiet, peaceful place and just pour your heart out to God, that is my definition of praying, of course we all have different ways to pray, none of which are wrong, but this is my preferred method. I have recently started trying to get in the habit of keeping a prayer journal and looking up relevant scripture as I pray. I am really enjoying this and I also think it will be nice to go back and look at how God has answered those prayers. The most important thing to remember is that for the miracle of prayer to begin operating in our lives, we must finally do only one thing: we must pray!
As always I wish you all a blessed day!

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.
                    Psalm 150:6

Well I got a call that someone found my wallet today and all the way there I prayed that the money would still be in it, of course it wasn't and I was upset at first, but as I thought about it I realized that even without the money it is truly a blessing and I really think that it was a wake up call to me from God that I need to be more careful and responsible and also that I should be thankful and praise Him that I got all my identification cards back.

No matter your circumstances, you can praise God for who he is and his everlasting love for you. He is the Creator of the universe, the Redeemer of your soul, and the Life in your life. How awesome is God. (Taken from "A Mother's Prayers For Her Children" by Nancy Ann Yaeger)

Steve Jobs Turtlenecks

Ok, I heard this on the radio and it really disturbed me, why don't more people idolize our awesome God more and other people less.  I mean no disrespect to Steve Jobs, he did so much for all of us but seriously it just makes me think how shallow people are.

Steve Jobs Turtleneck Sales Skyrocket: Comfy or Creepy?

Apple isn't the only business getting the spotlight because of Steve Jobs' untimely passing. St. Croix Shop, a men's clothing boutique in Minnesota, began selling its black turtleneck shirts in bulk simply because Jobs was known to purchase dozens of them every year and wear them almost every day.

Depending on God

Trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) in the Lord and do good; so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed.

Prayer Requests

I have a couple of prayer requests and hope that you can find some time to pray over them with me.

Lord, I pray for Amber Nicole Maddox that you would heal her of her cancer Lord and that the tumor they have found would just disappear in your name and Lord I also pray that her family would have strength and great faith in these hard times they are facing, in Your Son's Holy name Lord, Amen!

O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you restored my health. ~ Psalms 30:2

Have compassion on me, Lord, for I am weak. Heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony. ~ Psalms 6-2

Lord please lift Jodie Forester up and let her biopsy come back normal and just let her body be healed by your loving hands Lord, Amen!

So Frustrating

This is exactly how I feel this weekend, I have been trying to find a job for some time now and then on Friday I lost my wallet with my debt card, cash and all my important cards in it.  I have prayed someone might find it and return it but unfortunately in this day and age I don't think that is gonna happen. I am looking forward to tomorrow and going to church, I know it will make my weekend so much better and just lift my spirits.

Bless You

Just wanted to wish everyone a very blessed weekend.

Views Of Heaven

Have you ever sat and pondered what Heaven will look like when we get there?  Is it a magical place in your visions? Is everything covered in clouds? Or maybe all gold? Some adjectives that I think of when I imagine Heaven are safe, clean, and colorful.  By colorful I mean bright, sunny, like fields of beautiful flowers, with rolling hills and the greenest grass.  I often wonder what others think of when they think of Heaven other than the most important part, FINALLY SEEING OUR GOD.

John 14:2 In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?

Revelation 22:1-5  Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.  No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.

Schooled in Scripture

Dr. Tony Evans

The reason we don't experience God is because we know too much. If we were as schooled in Scripture as we are in the world, there would be no spiritual dropouts.

For the Lord gives skillful and godly Wisdom;
from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.

James 3:15 Such "wisdom" does not come down
from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil.

Ok so I really don't watch too many shows but this one happens to be my absolute favorite one. I love the way the characters interact with each other, they have so much chemistry together. If you haven't watched it I suggest you give it a try.

NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) is more than just an action drama. With liberal doses of humor, it's a show that focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations.

Jonah - A study by Priscilla Shirer

So three weeks ago we started a new woman's study called Jonah, Navigating a Life Interrupted and so far it has been great.  I will tell you what the back of the book says.

They shock us; they shake us; they compel us to change.  You can't escape life's interruptions, but you can change your perspective on them.  Dive into the study of Jonah and discover that what you see as an interruption may truly be God's divine invitation to a life so much bigger than you can imagine.

If you have never taken a Priscilla Shirer study I really recommend that you do, she is so full of life and a pleasure to listen to.
Interruptions. They come in all sizes and shapes. All colors and shades. Good and bad. Though we wish to avoid them, every season of life seems to include a few - sometimes on either end of the same day. As we're coming up for air from the devastation of one, a fresh and exciting interruption takes our breath away, challenging us with new responsibilities, leaving us feeling inadequate and outmatched. Sometimes they make us wonder if God even cares. ~ Priscilla Shirer

Here are some things taken from

The facts of the story are very simple. Jonah was commanded by God to go to the city of Nineveh and preach judgment, but Jonah ran away from God instead, and booked passage on a ship to Tarshish—an unknown city in the Mediterranean Sea. On the voyage to Tarshish, God caused a great storm on the Mediterranean Sea that caused Jonah to be cast into the sea. According to the Biblical text, Jonah drowned and even had seaweed wrapped around his head at the bottom of the sea. Yes, Jonah died in the sea! This is not only a rational and logical conclusion but a solid fact, for the Bible states unequivocally that Jonah died and descended into Sheol at the bottom of the mountains—NOT THE SEA. Sheol is the abode of the dead. The following Scripture passage confirms this sequence of events:

(Jonah 2:3-6 KJV) (3) For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. (4) Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple. (5) The waters compassed me about, even to the soul: the depth closed me round about, the weeds were wrapped about my head. (6) I went down to the bottoms of the mountains; the earth with her bars was about me for ever: yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God.

Verse 5 above emphatically states that the waves surrounded him and even took his life (i.e., soul) as he was in the abyss of the sea. Verse 6 clearly states that Jonah went down to Sheol at the “bottoms of the mountains” and the bars of the earth closed around him forever. JONAH WAS DEAD!

The following two verses provide some very significant details to the story:

(Jonah 2:1-2 KJV)  (1) Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish's belly, (2) And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice.

It is very important to note that verse 1 has Jonah praying to God from the belly of the fish. This is after the three days that Jonah spent in Sheol, and Jonah has been resurrected in the fish’s belly. In Jonah’s prayer after three days, he relates in verse 2 how he cried out to God from the belly of Sheol (translated “hell”) because of his affliction, and God heard his prayer. Jonah states in the last part of verse 2:6 above “yet hast thou brought up my life from corruption, O LORD my God”. This is an explicit statement that God brought Jonah back to life from “corruption”. The Hebrew word for “corruption” means the grave or the pit. God brought Jonah back from death.

The following passage of Scripture in Jonah is highly significant, for it shows that Jonah repented of his disobedience just before he fell unconscious and died:

(Jonah 2:7-10 NASB)  (7) "While I was fainting away, I remembered the LORD; And my prayer came to Thee, Into Thy holy temple. (8) "Those who regard vain idols Forsake their faithfulness, (9) But I will sacrifice to Thee With the voice of thanksgiving. That which I have vowed I will pay. Salvation is from the LORD."

If it were not for Jonah’s prayer in Jonah 2:2-9, we would not know for sure that Jonah had died in the sea and descended into Sheol at the foot of the mountains. We would also not know that Jonah repented of his unfaithfulness just before he died. God heard Jonah’s cries up from Sheol and brought him up from the grave in the fish’s belly. At the end of Jonah’s prayer from inside the fish, God causes the fish to vomit Jonah up upon dry land.

The true Biblical facts about Jonah’s death, burial and resurrection point to an important sequence of events in the New Testament. Jonah dies because of sin, and his spirit descends into Abraham’s bosom in Sheol, where it remains for three days and three nights. His body is entombed in the grave of the great fish’s belly for the same three days and three nights. After three days and three nights, Jonah is resurrected inside the tomb, and he promptly exits the tomb when the jaws of the great fish are miraculously opened.

I hope everyone has a blessed day. Fall is in the air now for sure, it is such a clean, crisp feeling. I love Sunday and going to church, I love spending time with my church family and listening to our pastor preach. I will be back on later to tell you about the ladies bible study we are doing on Monday's.

My Girls

This is my oldest daughter Ashleigh, she is 15 and my best friend. She is very motivated and growing so much everyday in Christ that it brings tears to my eyes. She plans to be an Oncologist and I am so proud of her. The little boy in the picture is Aydin, we help his mother out with him whenever we can, I consider him my first grandchild.

This is my baby Alyssa, we call her Boo because when she was little she looked just like Boo from Monsters Inc.  She is 12 and she has such a big heart and worries about everyone she meets. It makes me such a proud mom to see how she cares so much for everyone.  She wants to be a veterinarian when she is older.

I want to see the movie Courageous pretty bad, I think it looks to be very good.  I would love to hear any reviews if anyone goes to see it.

Four men, one calling: To serve and protect. As law enforcement officers, they face danger every day. Yet when tragedy strikes close to home, these fathers are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, and their faith. From this struggle will come a decision that changes all of their lives. With action, drama, and humor, the fourth film from Sherwood Pictures embraces God's promise to "turn the hearts of fathers to their children, and the hearts of children to their fathers." Souls will be stirred, and hearts will be challenged to be ... courageous!~~Taken from

Youth Groups

I help at our church with the youth group and I just have to say that I love to see the youth pray over each other and reach out to one another like they do, it really touches my heart. I'm curious to know what some of you like about your church youth group, what types of lessons do you have and how do you reach out to the community.

A sad day

Well  my daughters best friend lost her granny to cancer today. Please keep her family in your prayers as they face these hard times. I tried to be there for her and it brought back losing my own mother the same way a year ago.

Psalm 34:18 The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.

Oh so tired

So do any of you suffer from restless leg syndrome? It is the most annoying thing I can think of. It comes on about once every month or two and lasts for several nights for me. I finally fell asleep at 5 am this morning and was hoping to avoid it tonight but of course I am having no such luck. I have tried stretching them, walking around for a bit and am thinking maybe a warm bath may give me a little bit of relief. Wish me luck. I would love to hear if any of you have any tricks that help.

Praying for others

I just wanted to put out there that I love praying for others and when I do it really brings me closer to the Lord so please feel free to ask for any prayer requests, anytime.

My mother, my angel!

I cried when you passed away. I cry today still. Although I loved you dearly, I couldn't make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke my heart to prove to me he only takes the best. Put this on your status if there is someone in heaven you miss everyday.
My mother passed away from cancer on November 19th, 2010, that was by far the worst day of my life and I miss her so much.  She was an amazing person and loved by all who met her.  I just really felt like I needed to put her on here somewhere.

John 3:16

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV)

Isn't it truly an awesome thing to know that God loves all of us, no matter what we have done in our lives?

I am new to blogging and hoping that it will be an awesome experience.  I just wanted to let everyone know that I am open to any questions you have about anything, I will try to answer as best I can and I love to give advice and help other people.
